Thumpin’ disco from the mid seventies by South Shore Commission, exponents of the matched disco outfit, a fashion trend that is sadly far less popular these days.
Porn star turned disco smasher with dance moves that make him look like he’s a puppet out of the Thunderbirds, Dennis Parker (RIP) rocks the place with the most awesome moustache and silver suit combo I’ve certainly ever seen. What a tune, though. A cheesy chorus that will be stuck in your head for days and barely enough lyrics to fill the back of a postcard but I always have to listen to this several times over whenever I play it.
Sadly not available to buy electronically anywhere online but it can be found here and there to download
Skream with yet more disco house remix action. His Duke Dumont remix was massive and now that he’s supposedly no longer making dubstep it would appear he’s fully embraced a more classic boogie style and I’m certainly not complaining.
I’m not the biggest disco fan, there were some great foot stompin’ tunes made back in the 70s but the ones that people tend to remember are generally awful. I’d never heard this before until very recently and, while I’ll be the first to admit that this is pretty damn cheesy, it’s so annoyingly catchy. The “I…am…the…auto…matic…lover” vocal is totally awesome and the video is truly breathtaking. That fully-functional robot they built must have cost a fortune. What do you mean it’s a man in suit?
