I guess most people don’t remember this one from Jamiroquai’s back catalogue but it was actually a nice little tune. Released back in ’96 and produced by jungle badman M-Beat I think they were a couple of years too late on the old bandwagon hopping. Hardly the best track ever made but surprisingly good for a pop/jungle crossover tune.

I don’t think I’ve posted anything even vaguely new for ages. Most tunes recently seem to have been at least two decades old. Ooops!
Anyway this is just out from the lovely Dirtybird label. Love the drop.

I’m not the biggest disco fan, there were some great foot stompin’ tunes made back in the 70s but the ones that people tend to remember are generally awful. I’d never heard this before until very recently and, while I’ll be the first to admit that this is pretty damn cheesy, it’s so annoyingly catchy. The “I…am…the…auto…matic…lover” vocal is totally awesome and the video is truly breathtaking. That fully-functional robot they built must have cost a fortune. What do you mean it’s a man in suit?

Sick and slick soul from groovemeister Jeff Lorber. Love the cheesy pre-chorus, the like of which only seemed to exist in the 80s.
