Interpol – Hands Away

Interpol have had four albums now and while the newer ones haven’t quite reached the heights that the first two did they’re definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of a bit of indie/rock. Pretentiously ambiguous lyrics everywhere and more than a hint of influence from classic alternative bands such as Joy Division but Interpol consistently put out albums that have more killer than filler. This is a more low key effort from their wicked debut, Turn On The Bright Lights, check the rest of the album for some more up tempo material.

The Whitest Boy Alive – Done With You

Happy New Year to all!

I didn’t manage to even look at this blog over the Christmas period and now that it’s January I feel like posting up a few guitar based tunes. This is a band that I discovered some time last year and totally love. Full of beautiful melodies with a laid back feel The Whitest Boy Alive are straight outta Berlin, one of my favourite cities, and I highly recommend anyone to pick up their albums if this tune floats your boat.

Smokin Beats – Jazz House

Nice bit of jazzy garage from the Smokin Beats guys who had a huge hit with Dreams but also released some excellent stuff in the 90s. I didn’t know until recently that these are the same blokes who made the old N.R.G. tunes. You learn something new every day, don’t you?
