Voyager – Voyager

A beautiful slice of mid-90s jungle here from one of its shamefully unsung heroes, Pete Parsons. I think many people are unaware of how many huge tunes this guy was behind being the in-house engineer for Dee Jay Recording and Lucky Spin, not to mention many, many more tracks.

Voyager was probably his biggest alias for solo material and always centered around the melodic side of things. This one was the b-side of Lucky Spin 21, just one of many classic 12″s this guy put out

Burial – Endorphin

I’m guessing that this isn’t that unknown to people but thought I’d post it up anyway. Hard to pick a favourite from Burial’s amazing second album, Untrue, but I think I’d go with this one.

Beatless with nothing but haunting pads and vocals this tune always makes the hairs on my neck stand on end. If you haven’t heard it then go and buy the album immediately, it’s probably my favourite electronic/dance record in the past 5 years or so.

Shogun – Just For You

One of my all time favourite tracks from a criminally underrated jungle/dnb producer. Shogun drops yet another dreamy tune on the wicked Renegade Recordings label. The flip side to this, Paparazzi, is also great and I’d recommend picking up pretty much everything this guy did, they can be found for peanuts on eBay and Discogs

Alessi’s Ark – Over The Hill

Nice bit of folky, dreamy indie pop here from an English band who seem to be getting a fair bit of attention recently. Meant to go and catch her (them?) at Glastonbury but the usual happened and I made it absolutely nowhere near…
